Kennedy Agyapong, the sitting MP for Assin Central in the Central Region on Wednesday (21 June) submitted his completed forms to contest the presidential slot of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Accompanied by scores of supporters, including, party officials past and present and youth group activists who share in his vision, he presented the forms at the NPP headquarters in Kokomlemle, Accra.
Addressing journalists after filing his nomination, Kennedy Agyapong promised to reduce unemployment in the country if given the nod.
“As a Member of Parliament for the past 23 years, I have to admit that the challenge of the government and successive government is unemployment.”
“And therefore, I have taken it upon myself to make sure I reduce unemployment in this country, I want those of you watching to believe in me that whatever I say, by the Grace of God and with good health, I will deliver,” Agyapong said.
Meanwhile, a former general secretary of the NPP Kwabena Agyei Agyepong also filed his nomination to contest in the flagbearer race of the NPP.
Speaking to the media, Agyepong said: “Ghana is really at a crossroads, and what the country needs urgently now is a NEW DAWN of astute political leadership with a Vision that inspires hope in the youth and rekindles the faith of Ghanaians in our Constitutional Democracy.”
