Addressing Jospong Group leaders at the Accra Compost and Recycling Plant (ACARP) in Accra, President Hichilema emphasized a shift in focus among African leaders from politics to creating opportunities for the African people.

He assured the JGC that his administration is committed to building African businesses that generate employment for the continent’s citizens.

“We don’t need you to persuade us to give you the opportunity to operate; it is our responsibility to foster the growth of African enterprises,” he said.

Furthermore, President Hichilema pledged to establish a committee at the Zambian Presidency to coordinate with the Jospong team and initiate their work promptly.

He underlined his administration’s commitment to improving the lives of the Zambian people, emphasizing the importance of electing capable leaders who can effectively serve the interests of the populace.

Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group, his wife Mrs. Adelaide Araba Agyepong and key executives welcomed the Zambian delegation to the company.

He highlighted the composition of African waste, with organic waste accounting for 61% of the total.

He outlined Jospong’s strategy to convert organic waste into fertilizer and effectively manage other waste components, such as plastics (14%), leather, glass (3%), textiles (2%), and e-waste (5%), among others.

He assured the Zambian President and his delegation that Jospong would take immediate action to establish various waste recycling plants and mechanisms to combat the waste menace in their cities.

Accompanying President Hichilema were Zambian Ministers for Tourism, Hon. Rodney Sikumba, and Mines and Minerals, Hon. Paul Kabuswe, as well as the Zambian Ambassador to Ghana, Ghana’s Ambassador to Zambia, and members of the diplomatic corps, among others.

Following discussions, the delegation toured the waste management facility to gain firsthand knowledge of its operations.

President Hichilema’s invitation to Jospong reflects his recognition of their successful waste management endeavours in Ghana and his commitment to fostering similar progress in Zambia.
