The National Service Scheme has successfully obtained government approval for upward adjustment in the monthly allowances for National Service Personnel.

Effective from January 2023, the allowances have been raised from GH¢559.04 to GH¢715.57.

The decision to increase the allowances was confirmed in an official letter dated 18th July 2023, signed by Hon. Abena Osei-Asare, the Deputy Minister for Finance.

The approval came after a series of productive engagements between the National Service Scheme, Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, and the Ministry of Finance.

The letter directed The Controller and Accountant-General to promptly implement the new allowance levels for all personnel.

By the adjustment, all current National Service Personnel serving actively are entitled to arrears, accounting for the difference in the revised allowance amount from January 2023.

The payment of these arrears will be made to the personnel accordingly.

Ambrose Entsiwah Jnr., the Acting Director of Corporate Affairs, urged all National Service Personnel to remain patient as the necessary administrative procedures are finalized to ensure the timely and accurate disbursement of the owed arrears.

With the increase in monthly allowances, the National Service Scheme aims to provide enhanced benefits to the personnel and further motivate them in their valuable contributions to the nation.
