The two-day conference is expected to discuss the need for a national moral vision and concerted effort at national development.

Announcing the suspension of tomorrow’s sitting on the floor of the House on Tuesday 25th July 2023 Speaker Alban Bagbin said, “The House will not sit tomorrow, we have a very important National event hosted by our partners in the church and from his Excellency through my good self, the Chief Justice, former presidents, and some ministers.

“All the important authorities in the country will convene to look at a very critical national agenda.”

“In view of that, a number of members of parliament are compulsorily to be present and so we will not sit tomorrow. We will sit on Thursday.”

The National Development Conference, which is being organized in partnership with the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), will open at the Pentecost Conference Centre at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region on Wednesday 26th July.

It will bring together major development actors, partners, and stakeholders to discuss the theme: “Moral vision and national development”.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will deliver the Keynote Address at the opening ceremony to be chaired by the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin; the Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkornoo; former presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and John Dramani Mahama, and the GJA President, Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, are also billed to speak at the opening ceremony.
