The Ministry of Education has condemned what it says is the deliberate dissemination of false information and the manipulation of media channels to foster negative sentiments against the Minister of Education, Yaw Osei Adutwum.

In a statement, the Ministry denounced this orchestrated misinformation campaign and expressed deep concerns regarding the disregard for fundamental journalistic principles and standards.

The statement comes in response to recent coverage by TV3, in which comments were attributed to Minister Yaw Osei Adutwum, allegedly challenging headteachers to compile lists of schools without textbooks.

“We want to clarify that the Minister has not granted any interview or made any statement to TV3 or any other media outlet regarding this specific matter,” the statement said.

The statement emphasized the damaging impact of spreading false information, stressing that such actions not only sully the reputation of the Minister but also undermine public trust in the media’s role as a reliable source of accurate news.

It underscored the absence of any factual foundation for the reported claims and called on the public to reject the assertions as baseless.

The Ministry revealed its intention to pursue legal action to ensure that TV3 retracts the report and issues a formal apology to the Education Minister.

This course of action, it said, is essential to rectify the harm caused by the propagation of false information and to re-establish the truth.
