Majority Chief Whip Frank Annoh Dompre has reiterated his support for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the super delegate conference of the ruling the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He emphasized his desire to be part of history and to support a candidate who can bring about unprecedented change within the party’s tradition and for the country.

He stated, “I want to make history and I want to be part of that history; and if I have evidence that there is a particular candidate amongst the lot who can make that history, I cannot hold on to a ledge.”

The Whip addressed the Parliamentary Press Corps (PPC) on Monday on concerns of his neutrality, being part of the Majority leadership in Parliament.

He explained that his fundamental role as the chief whip is to ensure discipline and the passage of government business.

He pointed out, however, that his position doesn’t prevent him from recognizing a candidate who can help the party break its eight-year cycle in power.

Annoh Dompreh Dompre emphasized the importance of the super delegates conference and the representation it offers, stating, “Representation is logical democracy everywhere in the world and that is how it works.”

He noted his past achievements, having received significant delegate support in previous primaries, which reflected the people’s confidence in him.

He stressed the influence of MPs and polling station executives in the party’s decision-making process, indicating that their support for a particular candidate is a reflection of the broader sentiment.

He confidently stated that the outcome of the super delegate conference would serve as a precursor to the November elections, expressing anticipation for a congratulatory call.
