Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has emerged as a strong contender for the NPP’s flagbearer race after securing a landslide victory in the Super Delegates Conference.
Provisional results, currently under collation, showcase Bawumia’s commanding lead with 629 votes, constituting an impressive 67.9% of the ballots cast across the 17 centres across the country.
This resounding support propels him to the forefront of the race. Kennedy Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, clinched the second position with 132 votes, corresponding to 14.3% of the total count.
Not far behind, former trade minister Alan Kyerematen secured a total of 95 votes (10.3%) to secure the third position.
Former Agriculture Minister Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto secured the fourth position with 40 votes (4.3%), while Francis Addai Nimoh and Boakye Agyarko each garnered 9 votes (0.09%) to tie at the fifth position.
The November showdown will witness over 200, 000 delegates from the NPP from all polling stations across the country.
