The New Patriotic Party (NPP) UK branch has announced their unequivocal support for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to lead the party into the 2024 general elections.
The declaration was made during a closed-door meeting held on August 25, 2023, in Accra, Ghana, where the NPP UK branch leadership was present for the Super-Delegates election.
The Branch Party Executives, led by Chairman Kingsley Adumattah Agyapong, expressed their unanimous support for Dr. Bawumia’s candidacy.
“We believe the Vice President, amongst all other candidates, is the one who can lead the NPP to retain power and break the eight-year cyclical change of governance,” stated Mr. Agyapong, emphasizing the importance of continuity in the party’s developmental initiatives.
The decision to endorse Dr. Bawumia came after extensive assessments of all candidates and discussions with the general membership in the UK.
“The candidature of Dr. Bawumia is strategically important and the right move to break the eight,” added Mr. Agyapong, highlighting the consensus reached among the majority of members.
The Branch Executives, including First Vice Chairman Mr. Alex Appiah Mensah, Branch Secretary Mr. Otuo Acheampong, and Branch Women’s Organiser Ms. Patricia Achiaa Boakye, affirmed their commitment to ensuring a convincing victory for Dr. Bawumia in both the Super-Delegates election and the upcoming general Delegates election on November 4, 2023.
Expressing gratitude for the endorsement, Vice President Dr. Bawumia thanked the NPP UK branch for their continuous support.
“I am deeply appreciative of the confidence and trust the NPP UK branch has placed in me. Together, we will continue the good developmental programmes and initiatives for the betterment of our country,” he stated.
The UK branch leadership had previously thanked Dr. Bawumia for his participation in the NPP International Women’s Conference 2023 held in London and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the government and the President.
The endorsement from the UK branch further solidifies Dr. Bawumia’s position within the party as the 2024 elections draw closer, setting the stage for a spirited campaign leading up to the polls.
