Francis Addai-Nimoh, a flagbearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has set out three conditions that must be met in order for the ruling party to win the 2024 elections.
During an interview on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Tuesday 24 October, Addai-Nimoh expressed his belief that “breaking the 8” is achievable, referring to the possibility of the NPP serving a third term in office.
He, however, emphasized that three conditions must be satisfied before this can be realized.
“The first one is the internal unity of the members of the party; if your internal unity and strength are weak, then we cannot marshal the maximum force for the external battle,” he said.
Addai-Nimoh added, “The second factor is based on the performance of the government because it is NPP-led government of Nana Akufo-Addo … and the third one is, who will be the face to lead the party”
Addai-Nimoh said he is confident of obtaining about 30% of the total votes come 4 November.
“My chances are bright … it is an open field and the views of delegates differ… I’m expecting this election to go for a run-off and I’m pushing for a run-off.”
“and why I am pushing for a run-off is that we can use that one as a process of achieving unity in the party. If there is a run-off between Addai-Nimoh and any of the other three, then, there is an obligation on my part to try to get the support of the others…”
