This was contained in a press release issued by the Public Affairs Departement of Chana Cocoa Board.

“The attention of Management of Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has been drawn to a WhatsApp group page created ostensibly to defraud the unsuspecting public”.

The fake WhatsApp page according to the Public Affairs Departement, have been created with telephone number, 0201692326 and registered in the name of one “PRINCE ATTA”, an imposter who claims to be a staff of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and a member of the “Youth Parliament”, invites and lures job seekers to make some financial commitments in exchange of employment at COCOBOD among other institutions.

“Prince Atta advertises in the said platform that he has ‘ protocol allocation/slots for recruitment of prospective job seekers into COCOBOD for a fee of Three Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢3,000.00). He then request for an initial deposit of One Thousand Five Hundred Ghana Cedis (GH¢1,500.00) to be paid into his mobile money account and subsequent payment of additional One Thousand, Five Hundred Ghana Cedis (GH¢1,500.00) upon receipt of appointment letter”.

Management of COCOBO says, the institution does not recruit through third party arrangements and “HAS NOT” engaged or authorized the said Prince Atta or any other person or institution to recruit on its behalf.

“Again, we wish to state that, COCOBOD follows laid down recruitment procedures to employ prospective job seekers without requesting them to pay any money. We have reported the matter to the Security Agencies for investigation and anyone found culpable will be made to face the full rigorous of the law”.
