The Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has been conferred with the title of “Konukolewura,” which means the Chief of Unity, by the Overlord of Gonjaland, Yagbonwura Bikunuto Jewu.
The Yagbonwura indicated that he has been following the politics of the Vice President for years and believes that he is a man of unity, hence the chieftaincy title.
Vice President Bawumia, in response, expressed his gratitude to the Overlord of Gonjaland and promised to continue serving the Gonja Kingdom as a loyal son of the land.
He also offered to renovate the Jakpa Palace, the seat of the Gonja Kingdom, which has been left unoccupied due to its deteriorating state.
He stated, “Yagbonwura, I have been your son since your days as Tulewura and I want to assure you of my continued loyalty, service and dedication as your son.”
The Vice President is currently touring the five northern regions of Ghana to thank the Chiefs for their prayers and support during the NPP primaries.
He has visited Nalerigu, Tamale, Yendi, Bimbilla, Saboba, and Damongo so far, with plans to continue his tour throughout the rest of the country.
The Yagbonwura blessed the NPP Candidate and assured him of his prayers in his quest to become the President of Ghana.
