He said the programme would also include provision of start-up capital for the beneficiaries to begin their business to contribute to mobilizing revenue to build a strong economy for the development of the country.

Mr Mahama announced the programme during a Two-day “Build Ghana Tour” at Techiman in the Bono East Region to interact with traders, apprentices and other businessmen and women to seek for their vote in the 2024 election.

He observed that a country without youth entrepreneurship could not progress, adding that the youth must be empowered with much entrepreneurial skills that would contribute to generating the needed revenue for the Social, Economic and Political development of the country.

The former President explained that the National Apprenticeship programme would serve as a platform to create more jobs to help solve the unemployment problems and relevant skills to also support in the building of the economy through taxes paying and other revenue mobilization avenues.

The flagbearer said since agriculture was another area that support the national economy, he would institute farmer services centres across the country and resource the centres with agro-equipment, agro-chemicals and inputs with well-trained skilled agriculture extension officers to supervise.

Mr. Stephen Afena, Chairman for the Techiman Magazine community, commended the NDC and its leadership for all the good plans for the youth and must ensure it becomes fruitful in their administration to solve socio-economic issues in the country since many parents could no longer support their children in learning a trade.

Former President Mahama visited the Krobo Nursing Training College, Artisans at the Techiman Magazine community and interacted with party members at Kintampo South, Nkoranza North and Techiman North at a durbar.

Former President Mahama later presented relief items to flood affected communities in Benkrom because of the spillage of the Akosombo Dam.
