Minister for Works and Housing, Francis Asenso-Boakye, has vehemently denied allegations of demanding a bribe from a gentleman to enable him to meet President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

According to the Minister, the allegation is false and evil, and denies ever knowing or associating with the gentle in question.

In a video circulating online, the gentleman named Claude Convincer Davit, claimed in 2017 when Asenso-Boakye was the deputy chief of staff at the Office of the President, he solicited a bribe from him in order to have access to the President.

A statement by the media assistant of the Minister, Paul Yandoh, however, insisted the allegation is nothing but a conjecture of the person making it.

Yandoh stated, “The allegation is false and evil. Hon. Asenso-Boakye does not know the gentleman in question. He has never met him nor had any interaction whatsoever with him.”

He emphasized that this is not the first time such accusations have been made by Davit, and questioned the credibility and motives behind the repeated claims.

“The repetition of a false allegation does not make it true. It was false then, and it is false today,” Yandoh declared and suggested these allegations are part of a larger political strategy orchestrated by the MP’s opponents to tarnish his reputation.

The statement appealed to law enforcement agencies to investigate the matter.

“Should the Ghana Police and/or the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) find any weight in the allegation, we strongly suggest they invite Mr. Davit to provide further and better particulars.”

The Minister’s assistant issued a stern warning to Davit, urging him to cease further repetition of the allegations.

“The MP shall, under legal advisement, take appropriate remedial action should he repeat this false allegation against him,” he warned of potential legal consequences.
