For the year 2024, the Ministry aims to build on the achievements of 2023 by conducting activities that include organizing a working session with the Core and Expanded Leadership of Parliament to enhance effective collaboration among Members of Parliament (MPs).

Additionally, plans involve engaging independent governance institutions to educate the public on their regulatory functions and facilitating a meeting with political parties to define their roles in ensuring credible, peaceful, and transparent elections.

Mr. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business in Parliament, who also serves as the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, moved the Motion for the House to approve the budget.

He highlighted that the allocated amount is designated for the Ministry’s core functions, such as initiating and formulating policies, considering the needs and aspirations of the people, and collaborating on development planning with the National Development Planning Commission.

Mr. Kwame Ayimadu-Antwi, Chairman of the Constitutional, Legal, and Parliamentary Affairs Committee, and New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Akim Central, affirmed that the Committee’s thorough examination of the Budget Estimates for the Ministry in the 2024 fiscal year led to the conclusion that the outlined policies and programs would significantly contribute to the national effort of securing liberty, equality of opportunity, and prosperity for the present and future generations, particularly during an election year.

Contributing to the Motion, Mr. Bernard Ahiafor, the Ranking Member for the Constitutional, Legal, and Parliamentary Affairs Committee and National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for Akatsi South, urged the Government to ensure adequate resourcing of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs to enhance its performance.
