West Ham United boss, David Moyes, has lamented Ghana’s decision not to allow star player, Mohammed Kudus, feature in their game against Brighton on Tuesday night.

The Hammers wanted to play the 23-year-old in the game before he joins the Black Stars camp to begin preparations for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations set to start in 10 days in Ivory Coast.

However, Ghana coach, Chris Hughton, feared Kudus could be at risk of picking an injury if he had played in the goalless draw game.

Speaking in a post-match interview, Moyes said it doesn’t make sense Salah was allowed to play for Liverpool on Monday, but Kudus was not permitted to feature a day later.

“Unfortunately you know for some reason, we were not allowed to play ours when Mo Salah could play for Liverpool last night. We weren’t able to play ours today.

Asked if Kudus would have played if he was granted the permission, Moyes replied, “Maybe. Maybe. I don’t think that is a question.

“Brighton might have the same feeling.

“I can’t see why at this point you’d play a game and you would be disadvantaged by some of the players not being able to play.”

The Black Stars opened camp on Tuesday at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex with 24 players, with Kudus, Richard Ofori, and Inaki Williams the players yet to report to camp.
