The Ministry of National Security, led by Hon. Albert Kan-Dapaah, on Friday, marked the Green Ghana Day(GGD) with a tree planting exercise at the Ministry.
This is part of the government’s afforestation and reforestation drive, aimed at restoring the country’s degraded landscape.
The Hon. Minister who was joined by the Chief Director of the Ministry and some members of staff, noted that the sustainability of the initiative is crucial towards addressing climate change which threatens national security.
Since the commencement of the programme in 2021, it is reported that some forty-one (41)million tree seedlings have been planted, with about 73% surviving over the period.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, announced that some ten (10) million seedlings are expected to be planted across the country.
