Minority Leader Cassiel Ato Forson has urged those involved in the recruitment process for Ghana’s security services to ensure fairness and non-politicization.
The call comes as the government plans to open the recruitment exercise to qualified Ghanaians across the country.
Speaking ahead of the Minister for Interior’s announcement, Ato Forson emphasized the importance of maintaining impartiality during the recruitment process.
He stressed the presence of both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in representing the interests of all Ghanaians, regardless of political affiliation.
“I use this medium to serve notice, particularly to those going to engage in the recruitment into the security agencies.”
“As we stand here, you see NDC and NPP representing the people of Ghana. They should not politicize the recruitment, and they should give everybody an equal and fair opportunity to go through the process. It’s very important,” he stated.
The Minority leader also addressed concerns about potential corruption and the collection of illegal fees during the recruitment process, insisting that no payments should be made or demanded.
“They should also not take money from people. They are Ghanaians and should be given the opportunity, and nobody should also pay. It’s a process that we all want the ordinary people of Ghana to benefit from,” he added.
The Minority Leader’s demand for transparency and equal opportunities in the recruitment exercise follows media reports of the government’s intention to recruit 11,000 into the security agencies without advertisement.
The Minority had demanded an expanded exercise to ensure all qualified individuals have a fair chance to service.
