After failing to win in their last two matches, the Phobians were desperate for all three points against a struggling Karela United side, but they couldn’t capitalise.

With six matches to end the season, Hearts of Oak have accumulated 42 points from 28 matches and are now 11 points adrift of league leaders Bibiani Gold Stars.

The Phobians were very dominant in the opening minutes of the first half as they pressed for the early goal.

Kwabena Boateng came close to opening the scoring for the Phobians, but his overhead kick was tipped off the crossbar by Karela United goalkeeper Nasiru Abdul Karim.

The half chances kept coming for Accra Hearts of Oak, but they lacked the swiftness in the final third as they wasted most of their chances.

Raphael Amponsah, who has been a crucial player for Hearts, nearly put his side in the lead midway through the first half, but Karela United goalkeeper Abdul Karim pulled off a brilliant save.

Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare was largely quiet in the first half of the game, as Karela United couldn’t test him.

The second half was a very cagey encounter with tackles flying in from both sides.

However, referee Selorm Yao Bless ensured calm prevailed with no major cautions to some players.

Karela United were more purposeful in the approach as they caused more offensive problems for the Hearts of Oak defence.

Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Asare was called into action in the 60th minute as he made a smart save to deny Karela United striker Alhassan Adamu.

The Phobians continued their struggles in the final third as they failed to create any good chances to test Karela United goalkeeper Abdul Karim.

The intensity of the match was very high in the latter stages of the match, but both sides settled for a point at the end of regulation time.
