The Old Achimotan Association (OAA24) has been thrown into mourning following the tragic loss of two of its members, Davida Asante Boateng and Lilian Akorli, both from Stopford House.
The two young women lost their lives after being involved in a fatal accident on March 7, 2025, along the Achimota Highway in Accra.
According to an official report from the Executive Board of OAA24, the victims were returning to the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) after attending the Annual Bonfire Celebration at Achimota School.
At approximately 11:30 PM, a vehicle, reportedly a black Corolla, knocked them down while they were crossing the highway.
Eyewitnesses said the driver failed to stop, leaving bystanders to rush the victims to the hospital. They arrived at the medical facility at around 12:02 AM.
Despite efforts by medical personnel, Davida Asante Boateng was pronounced dead at 4:00 AM on March 8. Lilian Akorli, though critically injured, fought for her life but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries later that morning.
In an official statement signed by Brainard Apraku, President of OAA24, and Wendy Naaki Tetteh, General Secretary, the association extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and pledged to provide support during this difficult time.
“The Old Achimotan Association (OAA24) extends our deepest condolences to the families of Davida and Lilian. We will continue to provide support to their families and find ways to honor their memory,” the statement read.
