The African Electoral Institute (AEI) has endorsed the recent decisions and announcements made by the Electoral Commission (EC) following the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held on March 7th, 2024.
In a statement released by AEI’s Public Relations Officer, Augustus Kweku Eshun, the institute praised the EC’s commitment to a transparent and democratic process leading up to the presidential and parliamentary elections scheduled for December 7th, 2024.
Key points from the IPAC communiqué include the publication of the electoral calendar, the decision to maintain existing Constitutional Instruments (C I’s), and the announcement of a 21-day Limited Voters registration exercise from May 7th to May 27th, 2024.
Additionally, the filing fees for candidates will remain unchanged, and the use of indelible ink during voting will continue, ensuring the integrity of the electoral process.
The AEI’s statement highlighted the successful and forward-looking nature of the IPAC meeting, emphasizing the importance of consensus building and the maintenance of a peaceful and credible election atmosphere.

STATEMENT OF AFRICAN ELECTORAL INSTITUTE (AEI) ON THE INTER-PARTY ADVISORY COMMITTEE (IPAC) COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE MEETING BETWEEN THE ELECTORAL COMMISSION AND LEADERS OF POLITICAL PARTIES.
African Electoral Institute (AEI) considered the last Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting release of 7th March 2024 as successful and forward-looking.
The AEI is pleased to note the new developments by the Electoral Commission (EC) as follows:
I. The Electoral Calendar has finally been published for the 2024 Elections
II. The coming 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections will be on the 7th of December 2024
III. The EC may not introduce a Constitutional Instruments-C I.
The existing – C I’s will remain.
IV. The Limited Voters registration exercise will be for 21 days.
Specifically from Tuesday, 7th May 2024 to Monday, 27th May 2024.
V. Filing fees for the 2024 presidential and Parliamentary Elections Election will remain the same.
VI. And the maintaining of the use of the indelible ink.
AEI laud IPAC on this feat as a build-up on a strong beginning for the 2024 General Elections underscoring consensus building and a peaceful credible elections.
We urge IPAC to continue the dialogue and maintain the rapport in the just ended meeting.
