Aggrey Memorial A.M.E. Zion Senior High School (SHS) in Cape Coast is set to launch its 85th-anniversary celebrations on Saturday, November 2, 2024, under the theme, “Building on 85 Years of Quality Education: The Role of Stakeholders.”
The event, hosted by the Headmistress Mrs. Dorothy Adentwi-Hayford, will take place at Pempamsie Hotel, 2nd Ridge, Cape Coast.
Professor Victor Kweku Bondze Micah will chair the occasion and Ing. Mrs. Rita Ohene Sarfo, a distinguished alumna and former Girls’ Senior Prefect, will deliver the keynote address.
Currently the Director of Policy, Planning, and Budgeting at the Ministry of Roads and Highways, Mrs Ohene Sarfo also serves as the Country Project Director for the six-lane Abidjan-Lagos Corridor Highway Development Project, a landmark 1,028-kilometer road connecting key West African cities.
She is widely recognized for securing Cabinet and Parliamentary approvals for significant road and interchange projects across Ghana.
The launch event will highlight the Special Homecoming gathering of old students, popularly known as AMOSA.
Kicking off on Friday, November 1, 2024, the Homecoming will feature a variety show to welcome alumni back to campus.
In addition, the anniversary celebration will introduce a new lecture series, “AMOSA Inspires,” designed to motivate current students.
Prominent alumni participating as guest speakers include Professor Sam Ekow Quainoo, Chair of the Department of Political Science and Economics at East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania, USA; Hiram Laud Anderson, a software developer and systems analyst who previously served as President of AMOSA-UK; Justice Otoo, a creative entrepreneur and Chief Operations Officer of RIEPCO; and Lyssiemay Annoh, a Corporate and Investment Banking professional with Societe Generale and former President of AMOSA-UK.
Following the launch, the school’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on Saturday afternoon, bringing together old students and school administration to discuss future initiatives.
The Homecoming weekend will conclude with a campus hangout, celebrating camaraderie and shared heritage among Aggrey Memorial alumni.
