It donated Items worth over 10,000 cedis to the management of the center.

Members of Lajna Imaillah, on the 24th of April, visited Chance for Children at Hebron near Medie in the Greater Accra region to mark the end of the Ramandan Fast and its ongoing Centenary celebrations.

The delegation donated assorted food items and drinks to support the children at the center.

First Vice of Lajna Imaillah, Dr. Fatima Eshun who represented the National President of the Association, Hajia Anisa Nasirudeen Iddrisu, in her remarks said it is incumbent upon Muslims to share what they have with the needy.

She quoted from the Holy Quran chapter 2 verse 216 where Allah Almighty says, “They ask thee what they shall spend. Say: ‘Whatever good and abundant wealth you spend should be for parents and near relatives and orphans and the needy and the wayfarer. And whatever good you do, surely Allah knows it well.”

She added that Muslims cannot be best if they do not spend on the needy as required  by Allah.

The members of Lajna Imaillah have been donating to various orphanage homes, hospitals, among others.

The organization hopes that there will be no child on the street, and all children will be well taken care of by their families, Insha Allah.

The National Welfare Secretary of the organization in the person of Hajia Mariam Osman also said the organization is noted for its benevolent activities through Humanity First, which is an NGO within the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community that supports various people and communities with various needs.

The organization believes in love for all and hatred for none and so extends its help to everyone in need.

Members of the delegation also interacted with the street children and shared some pieces of advice with them.

They encouraged them to be God-fearing and obey their guardians, be disciplined, love one another, do away with all forms of vices, be humble and respectful, and learn hard so that they can become good citizens in the future.

Mr. Zakari Alhassan, who is the Senior Social Worker of Chance for Children expressed his gratitude to Lajna Imaillah adding that it is the first time a Muslim organization has extended a hand to them.

He stated that the organization was established in 1999 by one Ghanaian called Amon Kortey and later a Swiss by the name of Daniella Sodjah joined him to take care of street children.

They have a walk-in centre where the street children go to have their baths and get a warm meal, some education, and training are also provided for them.

They currently have 65 children who are all attending school and they take care of all their expenses.

He explained that they need more people to support them so they can continue to take care of these children, who they eventually unite with their families.

Dr. Fatima Eshun commended their efforts and stressed they are doing what all believers are supposed to be doing.

She prayed to the Almighty Allah to continue to open more doors for them so they can continue to support these street children.
