After yesterday’s contest of the ten gurus of the New Patriotic Party, the outcomes have vindicated some of us.

In my numerous articles, I criticized the communication strategies being adopted by some of the candidates.

I reminded them that the contest was an internal one and therefore they should adopt a communication strategy, which should be tailored to the party delegates. That is intra-party communication.

Inter-communication strategy would be applied when one is successful after the delegates have given him the nod to lead or serve them as their flag bearer.

It is political suicide for one to sit in Accra and gallivant to the media houses and assure himself that his message had reached the delegates.

That is foolhardy.

It is rational to go to them

and communicate with them directly. Let them feel your presence and resonate with you.

Apply the following traits, simplicity, humility, and friendliness and you will achieve your objective of winning their souls, hearts, and minds.

Three of the candidates applied an intra-party communication strategy, no wonder they excelled in the next stage of the competition.

Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, Ken Ohene Agyapong, and Dr. Owusu Afriyie.

Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng was only lucky because of his long-running of the race.

But his communication strategy was abysmal.

His communication members are not communicating with the delegates, they are rather talking to the media only and their language usage is porous and abysmal.

The party people are not happy with his communicators. They are seen as arming the party’s main opponents in the 2024 election, the National Democratic Congress.

Alan Kyeremanten has another opportunity to revamp and re-organize his communication, or else the outcome of the November contest may lead him to his political hibernation.

Our Politicians should know that modern politics hinges on effective communication with its ancillary modes.

If one misses it, then defeat will be staring at him or her.

Communicate to win and attract the other voters, not play to the gallery.

The use of abusive, unprintable, toxic, and sordid language will not give anyone power or the result he it she wants.

We shall see what will happen between Boakye Agyarko and Addai Nimoh.

With this, if effective negotiation strategies are applied, the contest can be shelved, then the party will save some resources, energy, and time.

Once again, intra-party contest can be won with a helpful communication strategy.
