President Akufo-Addo on Tuesday commiserated with the family of the founder and General Overseer of the United Denominations Originating from the Lighthouse Group of Churches (UD-OLGC), Bishop Dag Heward-Mills over the death of their eldest son, Dr David Heward-Mills.
Dr David Heward-Mills, a 31-year-old medical doctor based in the United States and a practising psychiatrist in South Carolina passed on Good Friday after a short illness.
In a communique addressed to the church and the general public, the family requested privacy as they mourn the first son of their leader and founder.
“It is with deep regret and great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing away of David Heward-Mills, after a short illness. David was the first son of our Founder and Presiding Bishop.”
“We, also as a church, are heartbroken, however, we stand with our leader and his family and believe that God will comfort and see us through this very difficult season.”

The President who led a government entourage to console the family also signed a book of condolence opened for Dr David Heward-Mills.

“I came to express the sympathies and condolences of my family and I on this tragic loss. I wish the Bishop and his family the strength, comfort and love of the almighty in this difficult time. May God console and bless the family,” the President wrote in the book of condolence.
