Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of H.E. Dr. Sam Nujoma, the Founding President of Namibia and a revered leader in Africa’s liberation struggle.
In a heartfelt condolence message, President Akufo-Addo described the late leader as a hero whose legacy will be remembered for his role in Namibia’s independence and nation-building efforts.
“The late First President of Namibia’s life will continue to be celebrated for his heroic leadership, not only in the fight for independence from colonial rule but also in laying the foundation for a secure, prosperous, and democratic nation,” he stated.
He extended his sympathies to Namibian President Nangolo Mbumba, the people of Namibia, Dr. Nujoma’s widow and children, as well as the leadership of the SWAPO party.
Dr. Sam Nujoma, who led Namibia’s struggle for independence and served as its first President from 1990 to 2005, was a key figure in the fight against apartheid rule.
His passing marks the end of an era for Namibia and the broader African liberation movement.
Akufo-Addo’s message:

The late First President of Namibia’s life would continue to be celebrated for his heroic leadership of the people of Namibia not only in the fight for independence from colonial rule, but in laying the foundation for a secure, prosperous and democratic nation.
I join the many Africans and others around the world in conveying my condolences to President Nangolo Mbumba and the people of Namibia, his widow, children and the leadership of his SWAPO party.
