A political marketing consultant, Dr Bernard Tutu-Boahene has advised New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Alan Kyerematen to go beyond rhetoric as he begins his campaign to lead the governing party.

Kyerematen on Tuesday officially announced his decision to lead the country on the ticket of the NPP, promising to become a transformational leader if given the nod.

In a televised address, Kyerematen said he will launch and lead the execution of a “Great Transformational Plan” (GTP) if voted.

However, appearing on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Wednesday (11 January), Tutu-Boahene said the outgoing trade minister must deeply research into his presentation and focus on deliverables.

“Alan needs to understand that Presidency goes beyond what is spoken,” he told the host Kwaku Nhyira-Addo. “He must do deep research into that which he presented to then focus on a few that he can actually deliver.”

“As a country we have suffered because so much is promised by politicians yet very little is fulfilled; call a spade a spade and you will see this country develop further.

“The reality is that there are many questions that we can only know the answer to when an individual becomes president … you can talk the talk but can you walk the walk?” Tutu-Boahene asked.

Kyerematen has wrapped up his work at the Ministry of Trade and Industry barely a week after resigning, having met with chief executive officers and their chairs of boards on Tuesday (10 January 2023) in Accra.

Kyerematen used the occasion to thank the top officials of agencies under the ministry for their hard and fruitful work during his tenure as minister.

He urged them to continue the good work and support other officials of the ministry to realise the vision of President Akufo-Addo.

The appointees and board chairs took turns to thank Kyerematen and wish him well in his next endeavour.
