Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, a former member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has unveiled a symbol featuring the monarch butterfly for his new ‘Movement for Change.’
The logo symbolises change, transformation, hope, and positivity and also signifies strength, endurance, spirituality and trust, qualities that Kyerematen values as a political leader.
The former flagbearer aspirant took a decisive step in his political career by resigning from the NPP.
Alongside his resignation, Kyerematen also announced his intention to contest the 2024 elections as an independent candidate.
He revealed these developments during a press conference in Accra on Monday, September 25.
Kyerematen, who previously served as the Minister of Trade and Industry, says he is not only seeking a new political path but aims to establish a fresh movement in Ghana that champions change with the youth as its core support base.
The movement, aptly named “Movement for Change,” will carry the motto: “Ghana Will Rise Again” with the butterfly as its symbol.
Kyerematen emphasized that this initiative will be led and powered by the youth of Ghana.
He highlighted the significance of the youth demographic, noting that in the 2020 general election, the youth aged 18-35 constituted over 9.4 million voters, representing 55% of the total registered voters, which numbered over 17 million.
