The newly confirmed District Chief Executive (DCE) for Amenfi Central in the Western Region, Hon. Peter Amposah, has lauded the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, describing her leadership as ‘remarkable and development-oriented.’

Speaking during his acceptance speech, Hon. Amposah acknowledged that under the MP’s four-month tenure, Amenfi Central has gained national visibility. “It is time we match that visibility with real development,” he stated.

The DCE praised Hon. Cudjoe for her resilience and unwavering dedication to the people, noting that her journey has not been without challenges.

“She has withstood fabricated lies, insults, and character assassination attempts, all aimed at undermining her mandate. But instead of retreating, she has grown even more determined to serve,” he said.

Hon. Amposah commended her perseverance, saying, “Her resolve in the face of adversity has inspired us all—especially me. I salute you, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe. Truly, ‘Amenfi Yaa Asantewaa,’ ‘Small Gaddafi,’ ‘Brenya’—as she is fondly called—has shown her indomitable spirit.”

Speaking of the the district’s vast natural wealth in gold, cocoa, and timber, the DCE lamented that Amenfi Central remains one of the most deprived constituencies in the region—and possibly the country. He passionately appealed to relevant authorities to prioritize development in the area.

Among key infrastructure needs, Hon. Amposah listed the establishment of offices for the Minerals Commission, DVLA, NHIA, a Nursing Training School, a Teacher Training College, and a University of Agriculture, Mines and Technology. “These institutions will create jobs, attract investment, and encourage national service personnel to stay and contribute meaningfully,” he noted.

He also expressed concern over inadequate lighting, poor telecommunication services across all 23 electoral areas, and the dire need for a district hospital to meet growing healthcare demands.

Touching on infrastructure, he appealed to the Regional Minister to urgently address the deplorable road network, citing several communities that remain cut off due to poor roads, including:

Sefwi Bekwai to Ankwaso to Wuratrem

Sefwi Bekwai to Daboase to Agona Amenfi

Achichire to Anyinabrim

Agona Amenfi to Jedua Kesse

“These poor road conditions are a major barrier to transportation, trade, education, healthcare, and daily life . Improved roads would be a lifeline for economic growth and social mobility,” the DCE said.

On education, he noted that out of over 130 basic schools in the district, only 28 are covered by the School Feeding Programme.

“Education is the backbone of development. Every child deserves access to nutritious meals and quality learning. We must do better,” he stressed.

Hon. Amposah pledged to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to transform the district and realize its full potential.
