WHEN BROTHERS MEET

Scripture Reading: Exodus 4

And the Lord said to Aaron, “Go into the wilderness to meet Moses.” So he went and met him on the mountain of God, and kissed him. So Moses told Aaron all the words of the Lord who had sent him, and all the signs which He had commanded him. Exodus 4:27-28

When Moses runaway from Egypt, he was hated by both the Hebrews and the Egyptians. The Hebrews hated him for his presumption to be their liberator. The Egyptians hated him for attempting to liberate a Hebrew. He could not win with either side. The only people who could be trusted to welcome Moses were his family members.

The Lord chose Aaron to go and meet Moses. Aaron was Moses’ older brother. The Lord spoke to Aaron at the same time that He was speaking to Moses. Both Aaron and Moses heard from the Lord and started their journeys about the same time. Each of them was headed for the wilderness – Moses from Midian, Aaron from Egypt.

Throughout the Bible, we see that on many occasions, when the Lord calls people, He raises others to stand with them. The Lord knows our insecurities. He also knows our limitations. As such when He calls us, He connects us to the right kinds of people who can help us do what He has called us to do.

Aaron was the man who welcomed Moses back to Egypt, just as Barnabas was the man who introduced Paul to the Apostles. Our Lord Jesus, Himself, was received and introduced by His cousin, John the Baptist. When Moses met Aaron he felt so secure to share all that the Lord had told him.

Aaron was the older brother, but he was secure enough to recognize the leadership of Moses. A wrong person would have felt insecure, but Aaron was the right person for Moses at this time in his mission. The person God has raised to stand with you could be your spouse, a brother, a sister, a friend or a mentor. If you think you’re all alone without any helper, pray.

Ask the Lord to help you notice the person who understands your mission and has the right skillset to compliment your skills. He has already planted the person in your life. All you need is a meeting and a recognition.Prayer: Heavenly Father, you have planted the right helpers in my path. Help me to recognize and receive them.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
