With some two years left to the 2024 general elections, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, former Minister of Communications, is out with what will happen in the selection of a Running Mate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to him, there’s going to be a ferocious battle on who becomes the Running Mate for the NDC) ahead of the 2024 general elections.
Despite the competition being a keen one, Dr. Omane Boamah tipped Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang to once again become the NDC Running Mate. He, however, did not immediately reveal who her competitors are.
“It appears the competition in NDC for 2024 Running Mate will be very keen; but so far Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang stands taller…,” he wrote on his Facebook page sighted by Ghanaguardian.com.
The choice of who partners a flagbearer for all the leading political parties in Ghana has always appeared to be a tough task.
In 2020, several names popped up in the selection of a Running Mate to partner the NDC flagbearer, Mr. John Dramani Mahama.
After he was confirmed to lead the party, it took him several months to name Educationist Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as the Running Mate.
Prior to selecting of Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, political actors brought out names such as the venerable economist Prof Kwesi Botchwey, finance & banking expert Dr. Kwabena Duffour, educationist Prof Joshua Alabi, lawyer & politician Edward Doe Adjaho, finance expert & academic Sylvester Mensah, diplomat Ekow Spio-Garbrah, lawyer Goosie Tanoh, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah and Eric Opoku
