The latest accident data from the Police Motor Traffic and Trasport Department (MTTD) indicates that 256 more people were killed in July alone.
This means between January-July 1706; lives were lost to road traffic accidents in the country.
This represents a 24.43% rise as against the same time last year where 1371 people got killed.
When it comes to injuries, the country has within seven months recorded 9299 cases, with 1111 of them occurring in July.
Again, this is a 13.43% rise against the same time last year.
So far, 735 people have been killed in motorcycle-related crashes in seven months. Some 113 persons died in July alone, with 368 getting injured.
The Ashanti region continues to lead in road crashes deaths.
So far, 357 lives have been lost between January-July. In July, 60 lives were lost in the region.
The Eastern region follows with 279 deaths in the last seven months, with 36 deaths in July.
The North East Region recorded the least mortality with five deaths in seven months.
