A/R: Missing Tweneboa Kodua SHS student found dead; three arrested

Police at Jacobu in the Ashanti Region are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a final year student of the Tweneboah Koduah Senior High School.

16-year-old Daniel Osei Mensah, a native of Manso Odaho reportedly went missing on Friday, August 6, while working with his motorcycle. He was later found with multiple stab wounds in a nearby bush on the outskirts of the Amansie Central District town.

Residents however arrested the three suspects and handed them over to the police after opinion leaders authorized a serious manhunt.

“So the three suspects were arrested and have confessed to the crime. They have also mentioned other accomplices and the police are picking leads to arrest them”, witnesses said.

Calls mount for justice

The victim’s grandmother narrates how her grandson was stabbed multiple times by the suspects and later bludgeoned.

“He sustained knife wounds at his neck, and abdomen. They also used a stick to hit his head, killing him instantly” she said adding: “I want justice for my grandson. The culprits must be jailed.”

Improved security

Opinion leaders in the mining town have also joined calls for justice. Assemblyman for the area Isaac Boronya is worried that a completed police station funded by the community was yet to be operational.

“The case is at the Jacobu Police Station. And we are learning that the suspects wanted to steal the victim’s motorbike. At the moment I have sent my unit committee to be at the police station for more updates and I know justice will be served.

We need to intensify security in this area. However, we have managed to complete a police station but it is yet to be commissioned. We are pleading with authorities especially the Inspector General of Police and the Regional Command to help us. The facility when operational will help fight crime in this area.”
