Abena Osei-Asare: Deputy Finance Minister dumps Alan, calls for party unity

Deputy Finance Minister Abena Osei-Asare has distanced herself from the announcement of former Minister for Trade and Industry, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, to contest the 2024 election as an independent presidential candidate.

According to her, though she shares personal and professional relationships with Kyerematen, characterized by mutual respect and a shared dedication to Ghana’s progress, she cannot support the choice he made.

Former flagbearer hopeful, Alan Kyerematen on Monday, September 25 announced his resignation from the NPP and a decision to contest the 2024 presidential election as an independent candidate.

The Deputy Minister, however, respectfully distanced herself from his choice.

“First and foremost, while I enjoy both a personal and professional relationship with Hon. Alan Kyerematen, characterized by mutual respect and a shared commitment to our nation’s progress, I must respectfully distance myself from his recent choice,” Osei-Asare stated.

Abena Osei-Asare re-echoed her commitment to the ruling NPP and called for party unity.

She emphasized her deep-rooted dedication to the NPP highlighting the party’s values and vision for a prosperous Ghana as the foundation of her commitment.

Abena Osei-Asare stressed that the NPP’s strength has always been its unity and the ability of its members to work together for the common good of the country.

She urged party members to, therefore, remain determined and united, emphasizing that through unity, they can continue to work towards a brighter future for all Ghanaians.
