Accra Lions 1 – 1 Asante Kotoko: Porcupine Warriors ‘Lucky’ to escape defeat in Accra

Champions of the 2021-22 Ghana Premier League season, Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC drew 1-1 against the Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Porcupine Warriors avoided defeat in their last match of the season against the debutants Accra Lions FC.

The two teams failed to find the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes of the match despite some few decent half chances.

Accra Lions were the better team in the first half of the match with greater share of pocession.

Fourteen minutes into the second half, Salisu Abass broke the deadlock to give the home team a deserving.

Late in the game, Accra Lions gifted Kotoko the equalizer as Samuel Boateng got the equalizer to make it 1-1 at the end of the match.

The Reds will represent Ghana in the upcoming 2022-23 CAF Champions League competition after winning their 25th Title.

Top scorer, Franck Thierry Mbella Etouga failed to add to his tally on the final day as his competitor Yaw Annor plays tomorrow against Gold Stars FC in Bibiani.

Etouga was close to equalling Ishmael Addo’s long standing record of 22 goals in the Premier League era but Yaw Annor on 20 goals could nick it on the final day.
