The Accra Zoo has been closed to the public following the killing of a middle-aged man by a lion in the facility on Sunday.
The closure is to allow investigation into the case.
The “intruder”, according to a statement from the Forestry Commission, breached the cage of a lion, lioness and their two cubs, provoking an attack from the big cats that left him with scathing injuries and subsequently, led to his death.
The Police have since commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Police said after the necessary forensic examination of the scene, the body was removed and has been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
They are working with the management of the zoo and the Forestry Commission to get to the bottom of the incident.
