Adu Boahen used as sacrificial lamb to save Ofori-Atta – Sam George

Ningo Prampram Lawmaker Samuel Nartey George believes that the former Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Mr Charles Adu Boahen was used as the sacrificial lamb for the failures of the Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

He stated that the video which was relied upon by the President to sack Adu Boahen had been available to the President since 2018 but waited until 2022 to act on it, a time that intense pressure was mounted on the President to sack Mr Ofori-Atta due to the economic challenges.

Speaking on the Key Points on TV3 Saturday, December 31, Sam George, while analyzing the performance of Mr Ofori-Atta in the year 2022, indicated that he has failed.

The Ghanaian market, which he said is driven by perception, lost confidence in Mr Ofori-Atta hence, the decline in the local currency that was witnessed a few months ago.

To that end, he added, Ghanaians wanted Mr Ofori-Atta to go.

“Charles Adu Boahgen was used as the sacrificial lamp. That video was 2018, it is an old video, it is four years old

“He put out a post thanking the president that he was resigning and then the following day.”

He added that ” The Ghanaian market has lost confidence in Ofori-Atta, simple.”

The statement that announced the sacking of Mr Adu Boahen issued by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Mr Eugene Arhin said on Monday, November 14, said “The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has terminated the appointment of the Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Charles Adu Boahen, with immediate effect.
