Two presidential hopefuls of the New Patriotic Party are set to slug it out for the fifth position in the party’s search for a presidential candidate for the 2024 polls.
This was after Saturday’s Special Delegates conference failed to get a candidate for the fifth slot of the party.
The two-; Francis Addai Nimoh, former Member of Parliament for Mampong and Boakye Agyarko, former Energy Minister were locked up in a tie with both of them securing 9 votes in the elections.
Vice president Dr Mahamudu Bawumia won the election with 629 votes, Alan Kyerematen, former Trade Minister, 85 votes; Kennedy ohene Agyapong, MP for Assin Central, 132 votes and Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Former Agriculture Minister securing 36 votes cast to occupy the fourth slot.
The election was held nationwide with some 900 delegates taking part.
