Ahmed Osumanu Halid writes: The brouhaha in the house of Al Sunnah Wal Jamah

Al-Sunnah Wal Jamah is a key Islamic sect in the promotion, Projecting, marketing, sharing (knowledge), and defending the course of our beautiful religion: Islam. The religion of Allah and all the Prophets of His.

The religion has the following principles. These include submission to the will of Allah only, peaceful co-existence with all, including nonbelievers, love, unity, togetherness, sound leadership, and the fear of Allah.

Al-Sunnah is a popular and one of the most populous set on the globe when it comes to Islam. It is known across the nook and cranny of the globe.

Currently, there is turmoil in its House in Ghana. The matter is all about leadership, governance, and other miscellaneous issues.

I know every Al-Sunnah wal Jamat believes that the only sources of knowledge in the practice of Islam are Al Quran and wal Hadith.

I have been following the teachings of this sect of Islam and its modus operandi has been about the promotion of Islam through its Dawah program across the breadth and length of the country and beyond.

The sect has not departed from its core principles and mandate.

The current malaise afflicting the sect is all about leadership, governance, and accountability.

The perfect Democrat was and still is Prophet Mohammed(PBUH) who has demonstrated quality and just leadership to mankind.

From my perspective, the leadership needs to resolve all these raging matters by deferring to the Holy Quran and the Hadith of the Prophet. Period!

It is disheartening and sickening to listen to comments being made by some imams and other scholars of the sect who are not enthused with the leadership style of Imam Umar on social media.

As Muslims, as stated in supra, we have the Quran and the Hadith to consult for any challenge facing us.

Amazingly, those who should know better are applying their personal and subjective thoughts to poison the atmosphere. It is unacceptable for a Muslim to misuse the opportunity offered by social media to castigate, insult, attack, and defame your fellow Muslims and others you may disagree with.

My innocuous piece is not to go into the gravamen of the matter or to adjudicate or pass any judgment, but to appeal to all to quickly resort to the Quran for an amicable solution to the impasse.

Individuals or persons should shun their individualistic and subjective motives on this matter for the sake of Allah.

I am urging all to come to the table and help resolve this not too much of a teething-matter-or-lasting conflict.

I am also appealing to the Imam to admonish all including his sympathizers to be measured in their utterances.

The Al-Sunnah Wal Jamah needs peace to continue with its Dawah and to win more souls for Islam. This selfish act on the part of some members both on pro and anti Leadership should be truncated and fully halted for the sake of Allah and the followers of the Religion.

I also pray that the leadership of the sect will accommodate all sweet and bitter thoughts and suggestions so that peace will continue to reign.

Muslims across the globe especially those in Ghana cannot rejoice over this sad event the sect is going through. I know it is a test and In sha Allah, it will be resolved.

As stated in the early part of the piece, the solution to the impasse can easily be traced from the Holy Quran and the Hadith of the greatest human on this earth, Prophet Mohammed (s.a.w).

It would be unwise for anyone to resort to the court.

The court will not entertain it since the court believes in Islam’s use of procedures and processes in resolving its internal matter.

Since there is no criminality in this matter. It is a civil, therefore the court expects the sect to apply its system of conflict resolution to close the chapter.

The disputants or the litigants must refer to the two main sources of knowledge in Islam for the resolution of the matter.

The peace in Al-Sunnah is the peace in Islam.

Let peace reign.

Let peace be sustained in the House of Al-Sunnah

Salaam
