President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has nominated Mrs. Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare as the new Managing Director of the Ghana Airports Company Limited, effective December 24, 2023.
The announcement comes on the heels of the retirement of Mrs. Pamela Djamson-Tettey, who has served in the position until December 23, 2023.
With her extensive experience, Mrs. Yvonne Opare is poised to lead the company into a new era of growth and excellence.
In a statement, the President expressed confidence in Mrs. Opare’s ability to steer Ghana Airports Company Limited towards realizing its vision of positioning Ghana as the Preferred Aviation Hub and Leader in the Airport Business in West Africa.
The Board of Ghana Airports Company Limited has also been directed to oversee the exit of key management staff who have reached the statutory retirement age of 60 years.
Notable among them are Mr. Emmanuel Akotoa Fianko, Group Executive, Procurement; Col (Rtd) Emmanuel Akohene Mensah, Director of Aviation Security and Mr. Yaw Appiah-Danquah, Director of Airports Planning & Projects.
GACL, the statement said, remains steadfast in its commitment to achieving its vision and reinforcing Ghana’s status as a leader in the aviation industry.
The transitions mark a strategic step towards ensuring a seamless continuation of the company’s mission.
Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) commenced operations in January 2007 with the specific responsibility for planning, developing, managing and maintaining all airports in Ghana including Kotoka International Airport and five regional airports namely Kumasi, Tamale, Sunyani, Wa and Ho as well as various airstrips.
