The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng and his campaign team are busily campaigning for Ernest Yaw Anim, the party’s parliamentary candidate contesting for the Sekyere Kumamu constituency Parliamentary by-election which will come off on 23rd May
2023.
Alan Kyeremanteng who is also campaigning for himself to be elected the flag bearer of the ruling party is accompanied by Minister for Railways, John Peter Amewu who’s also member of parliament for the Hohoe Constituency in the Volta Region, Executive secretary to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Nana Kwasi Prempeh, former member of parliament for Manhyia North Constituency, Collins Owusu Amankwa, former Communication director of NPP Yaw Boabeng Asamong among other respected members of the party.

The party’s parliamentary candidate, Enerst Yaw Anim is said to be an activist for Alan Kyeremanteng defeated alleged sponsored candidate from the office of Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, Ama Serwaa in the party’s parliamentary primary held in Kumawu Besro on Sunday 23rd April
2023.
The defeat of the young lady in that election gave Alan Kyeremanteng supporters the bragging right over Dr. Bawumia insisting the contest was between the office of the vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia and Alan Kyeremang’s camp.
Former Manhyia North Member of Parliament Collins Owusu Amankwah who is Campaign Operation Coordinator in Ashanti Region for Alan Kyeremanteng described the election of Ernest Yaw Anim as Alan Kyeremanteng’s first election knockout to Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia.
He said, “it is a clear signal that nobody in the NPP can impose a candidate on party delegates. Kumawu constituency has affirmed the NPP tradition for electing its leaders” he said.
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, on 3rd April 2023 declared the seat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumawu, Philip Basoa, vacant.
The decision followed the death of Mr Basoah, 53, on March 27, 2023.
Currently, the Alan camp is under intense pressure to support their candidate to win the Kumawu by-election to prove a point for Alan kyeremanteng and his supposed candidate to prove their critics wrong that the party made no mistake by electing Ernest Yaw Anim as the party’s
candidate for the by-election.
