Alan’s Plan B uncovered: In talks with CPP’s Greenstreet

Former Minister for Trade and Industry, Alan John Kyerematen, is considering the possibility of forming an alliance with Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, a two-time Presidential Candidate of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), for the 2024 general elections.

Reliable sources have disclosed that Mr. Kyerematen has engaged in discussions with the former CPP flagbearer regarding the potential for collaboration.

This development occurs as some dedicated supporters of Mr. Kyerematen, who once aspired to be the NPP’s flagbearer, have shifted their allegiance to Vice-President Bawumia’s Campaign.

This decision follows happenings after the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Super Delegate Congress and his subsequent withdrawal from the scheduled Presidential primaries on November 4, 2023,

Insiders within Alan’s camp have indicated that he initially contemplated running as an independent candidate.

However, he eventually abandoned this idea, recognizing the considerable challenges associated with running a successful independent campaign in 2024.

As a result, Mr. Kyerematen is in negotiations with political parties that possess established infrastructures, making the campaign process more manageable.

He is actively engaged in discussions with the leadership of both the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) and the Convention People’s Party (CPP).

Nevertheless, the talks with the CPP have progressed significantly, and both Mr. Kyerematen and Mr. Greenstreet are contemplating announcing their joint candidature in the coming days.

Mr. Kyerematen withdrew from the NPP Presidential race after finishing a distant third in the Super Delegates Congress held on August 26.

He received 95 votes, trailing behind Dr. Bawumia and Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, who secured 629 and 132 votes, respectively.

Mr. Kyerematen cited intimidation and an unfair playing field as the reasons for his withdrawal.

Acknowledging his withdrawal, the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, released a statement indicating that both the Elections and Disciplinary Committees have initiated comprehensive investigations into all reported incidents of violations and infractions alleged to have occurred at various voting centers during the Super Delegates election last month.

The statement provided assurance that individuals found culpable of any wrongdoing will be held accountable.
