The third accused person in the ongoing ambulance case has accused Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame of pressuring him during odd hours to implicate the Minority Leader and former Deputy Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
During cross-examination, Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe cautioned the accused to provide direct answers.
In response, Attorney-General Dame accused the accused of defending the Minority Leader.
The accused, Richard Jakpa, retorted that the Attorney-General seemed upset because he had previously asked Jakpa to assist in building a case against Dr. Forson.
“The A-G has on several occasions engaged me at odd hours to help him make a case against A1 and I have evidence for that. If he pushes me, I will open the Pandora’s box. I don’t understand why the A-G will accuse me of defending A1 when I’m here to defend myself,” Jakpa fumed in court.
“If he pushes me, I’ll open the Pandora’s box. I have evidence to all this,” a visibly angry Richard Jakpa indicated to the court.
Jakpa’s explosive accusation stunned the courtroom, including the Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, whose countenance reflected shock and anger.
To defuse the situation, Justice Asare-Botwe ordered Jakpa to lower his voice and requested water be brought to him. However, after accepting the bottle, Jakpa refused to drink, stating he was too upset.
The case was temporarily adjourned as the judge called for a meeting with the attorney general and the lawyers of Dr. Forson.
