Anti-LGBTQI Bill: ‘We won’t allow any secret vote in Parliament’ – KT Hammond warns colleague MPs

The Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa in the Ashanti Region, Kobina Tahir Hammond has revealed the method Parliament will use to vote on the anti-LGBTQ+ Bill currently before it in Parliament.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen monitored by GhanaNewsPage.Com, the Law Maker indicated that majority of members of the august house are convinced about this bill and will know how to go about it when it is finally laid.

According to him, Parliament does not see this bill to ‘be a hard nut’ which it ought to worry itself about how to go about it.

“Ghanaians should be rest assured that we will ensure that justice prevails and no one can force us to pass fight a bill which we ourselves are for…,” he said.

He further revealed that the voting method which will be used by the house when it resumes sitting and the bill is laid before them.

“There won’t be any form of secret vote, secret vote over what, it is just a simple YES or NO vote and we are gone…it will be by voice vote…the speaker will just say as many as are in favour say Yes, and No and we will pass the Bill…,” he assured.
