Apiate explosion: GMA urges Ghanaians to join rescue efforts

The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has made a passionate appeal to Ghanaians to support the on-going rescue efforts at Apiate in the Western Region.

According to the Association, it is time to demonstrate the Ghanaian hospitality and communal spirit and contribute to help resettle the internally displaced victims of the tragic explosion.

“We believe in the resilience of the Ghanaian to overcome this tragedy,” it said

In a statement to commiserate with the families of the deceased and the injured, the GMA expressed shocked and sadness at the devastation caused to lives and properties at Apiate and the surrounding communities.

“On behalf of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the GMA, we express our deepest condolences to families that have lost loved ones to this unfortunate event.”

“We also wish all injured persons speedy recovery,” the statement said.

The GMA commended the National Emergency Response Team and volunteers for their efforts in the rescue exercise thus far.

The Association also expressed gratitute to all Medical Doctors and other healthcare workers especially those at the Tarkwa Municipal Hospital and other health facilities providing care for the injured.
