Deputy Minority Leader Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has slammed the Akufo-Addo administration, labeling it “undoubtedly the worst government under the Fourth Republic.”
He cited the widespread economic hardship, high youth unemployment, and crushing debt burden as major failures of the current government.
Commenting on the Message of the State of the Nation that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo delivered to Parliament on Friday, January 3, the Deputy leader stressed that the people of Ghana have already given their verdict on the true state of the nation,
“And that verdict was very, very clear: economic hardship, huge debt overhang, high youth unemployment, hopelessness, and more,” he stated.
Buah pointed to the results of the December 7 elections as evidence of public dissatisfaction stressing that the government’s abysmal record was confirmed when the people of Ghana returned the most overwhelming and emphatic vote of rejection of any administration ever witnessed under the Fourth Republic
The Deputy Minority Leader also criticized President Akufo-Addo’s promise to build a national cathedral.
“Mr. President, you left something very important in your account. You left out an account of your promise to God to build Him a cathedral. But I will leave that between you and your God,” he said.
Expressing optimism for a better future under an NDC government led by former President John Dramani Mahama, Buah assured the good people of Ghana that hope is on its way.
President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC, he said, will lift the nation from this historic low and reclaim her place and glory as the Black Star of Africa.
Quoting Exodus 14:13, Buah concluded, “Fear you not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord. For the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you shall see them no more.”
He ended his speech dramatically, saying, “Bye-bye, Mr. President. It is finished.
