Arsenal Football Club manager, Mikel Arteta, remains tight lipped about discussions concerning Ghana international Thomas Partey’s contract.
Arteta didn’t give much away when quizzed on the subject as Partey inches towards the end of his five year deal with Arsenal after joining from Spanish side Atletico Madrid.
In a pre-game presser, Arteta said that the Gunners are considering all options to deal with the absence of Partey in Arsenal’s upcoming UEFA Champions League semifinal first leg clash against Paris Saint-Germain. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
On Partey’s contract situation, Arteta stated, “Yes, there’s progress with all the players. I’ll leave that to Andrea (Berta- Arsenal Sporting Director) and the club to decide and to talk about. The intention (to keep Partey) is very clear. I’ll leave that to Andrea and the club to take a step forward.”
Partey’s sole low point in a brilliant performance in Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Real Madrid in the Champions League quarterfinal was getting booked in the 85th minute that rules him out of the PSG first leg tie scheduled for April 29.
He is expected to return for the second leg on May 7.
