Asawase NDC on fire: Muntaka fingered in ‘divide and conquer strategy’

Member of Parliament for Asawase, Alhaji Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka, has courted the anger of his constituents who have warned the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is secured in the constituency and does not need any individuals to survive elections.

They warned that the MP and also Minority Whip in Parliament is dispensable because the constituency has always been won by the NDC before he became a candidate and will continue to fall for the party even without him.

There appears to be bad blood between Hon Muntaka and his constituency chairman, Faisal Dauda and the MP is alleged to have stated on record his intention not to work with the constituency chairman over claims of cynism and disrespect.

This has led to a division among their supporters that is affecting the party’s activities to unite and galvanise for votes at the constituency level.

Concerned members of NDC in Asawase are not enthused with the current happenings of the party and want the national executives to intervene.

“Asawase NDC is currently divided and we can’t run away from that. It is important for the functional executive committee, national executives committee and all stakeholders of the party to intervene now so that we can start our reconciliation process and move together as a united force for victory in 2024”, said Umar Harris, spokesperson for the group.

The group further assured members resolve to intensify the campaign for the 2024 elections but warned those who intend to hijack the party for their personal agenda.

“Asawase is a safe seat for the NDC. It has got nothing to do with who leads the party for the parliamentary slot. Whoever is elected in the primaries as the parliamentary candidate has the support of all the NDC voters in the constituency. So no individual should think without him, there is no NDC in Asawase”

Well, the party’s plan is to iron out their differences, unite, and prepare for victory in 2024.
