Ashaiman NDC disowns unofficial endorsement of Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman

The Ashaiman Constituency Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has distanced itself from an unofficial endorsement of Madam Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman as the Vice Presidential candidate for the 2024 elections.

The committee emphasized that a press conference held on September 29, 2023, by a group of individuals advocating for Opoku Agyeman’s selection does not represent the majority views within the constituency.

In a press release signed by Allan De-graft Quansah, the Secretary of the Ashaiman constituency, the committee reaffirmed its commitment to democratic processes within the party and expressed trust in the flagbearer to make the best decision for the collective success of the NDC.

“We believe in the democratic processes within our great party, and trust our leader, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, to make the best decision for our collective success,” the statement read.

The committee further called on all party members to refrain from exerting undue pressure on the flagbearer and to allow him the freedom to select a vice-presidential candidate without external influences.

They emphasized the importance of unity within the party, stressing that their strength lies in collective goals over individual interests.

“Our party’s strength lies in unity, and we must prioritize our shared goals over individual interests. Together, we can achieve a brighter future for our constituency and the nation,” the statement continued.

The committee urged the media to disregard the press conference and the statements made by the endorsing group. They emphasized that their official stance on the matter would be communicated through appropriate channels.
