Ashanti Regional NPP Council of Elders brokers peace in Offinso North Constituency

The Ashanti Regional Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has successfully brokered peace between feuding parties in the Offinso North Constituency after a marathon meeting held on August 21, 2024.

A statement issued by the party indicated that the meeting aimed to address tensions in the constituency and restore unity as the NPP prepares for the upcoming 2024 elections.

The Ashanti Regional Council of Elders, led by its Chairperson, Mrs. Rosemond Appiah-Menka, created a conducive atmosphere for an open and frank discussion, allowing all parties to air their grievances.

Following the discussions, the council declared a “ceasefire,” urging all party supporters to embrace peace.

“The fires of division have now been quenched. We must now embrace unity of purpose,” Mrs. Appiah-Menka declared.

The Ashanti Regional NPP Council of Elders, at a marathon meeting yesterday 21 21st August 2024, with the feuding parties in the Offinso North Constituency have succeeded in brokering peace in the party.

The meeting witnessed the presence of Dr Fred Kyei, the Parliamentary Candidate, Mr. Johnson Modma, the Constituency Chairman, Mr. Richard Boateng, the Constituency Secretary, Dr Albert Sefa Boampong, the District Chief Executive, Adwoa Asantewaa, the Deputy Women’s Organizer. Some members of the Constituency Council of Elders, Electoral Area Coordinators and Constituency executive members.

The Ashanti Regional Council of Elders provided a conducive atmosphere for every member of the Contingent present to pour out their concerns and grievances in an open and frank discussion. Thereafter, the council declared a cease-fire and party supporters in the constituency were exhorted to embrace peace.

The Council of Elders present took turns to admonish all the Constituency Party Leaders present on the need for peaceful co-existence, especially towards the pursuits of the Presidential or Parliamentary meeting.

In his contribution, Dr. Moussa Jebir Kebir, the vice chairman of the Council of Elders, advised all parties to accept the peace deal because it is fair and honest one.

The Chair of the Regional Council of Elders, Mrs Rosemond Appiah-Menka — Menka in her concluding remarks proclaimed her happiness at the resolution of the conflicts in the Offinso North Constituency. She revealed that she has had to endure sleepless nights over what was going on in the Constituency and indicated that going forward the Council of Elders would keep a close eye on developments in the constituency.

Furthermore, she called on the party members to stop stoking the fires because the fire has now been quenched and appealed for unity of purpose to ensure a resounding victory for Dr. Mahamud Bawumia in the Presidential elections and Dr. Fred Kyei, in the parliamentary elections.

Finally, the chair thanked everyone who has made it possible for the Council of Elders to bring about peace in the Offinso North Constituency of the New Patriotic
