Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Special Aide to Mahama, has expressed satisfaction with the investigative report of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) on the Airbus scandal and stressed the former president’s commitment to integrity and transparency.
The OSP exonerated former President John Dramani Mahama from allegations linked to the Airbus scandal, a decision that his aides and supporters have welcomed with satisfaction.
In an official statement, Bawah Mogtari claimed that the OSP’s ruling reaffirms what they have always known: “John Dramani Mahama is a man of integrity, a leader committed to the principles of honesty and transparency.”
The Airbus scandal, which had become a focal point for political debate, saw various accusations against the former President despite clarifications from the UK’s Serious Fraud Office that neither Mahama’s brother nor other associates had a case to answer.
Mahama’s office accused the Akufo-Addo government of leveraging the scandal for political gains.
“We note the OSP’s revelation that President Nana Akufo-Addo personally requested that President Mahama be investigated. This casts an even darker shadow on the motives behind the initial accusations, which were planted to tarnish the reputation of an innocent man,” she added.
She emphasized Mahama’s willingness to cooperate with investigations, stating, “President Mahama has always made himself available for any investigation. He has consistently stated that he has nothing to hide.”
The statement called for similar scrutiny on current leaders and challenged Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and President Akufa-Addo to, “In this spirit, subject themselves to equal scrutiny and transparency.
